In this Children's and Women's wing of the hospital, the fundamental aspects of human existence, the very
miracle of life itself and the human cycle of life, are focused
This theme dictates the structural form of my work here, for the circle - representing the earth, a human cell,
the ever.revolving cycle of life, is the primary form for the commencement of the whole life process
The adult human body contains hundreds of millions of such circle-shaped cells, each one a microcosm of
activity. Within each human cell an almost limitless process of action and inter-action is taking place - staring
into an electron microscope at such a cell is a similar experience to that of looking into a powerful telescope
at the night sky
In the history of human healing and medical science many differing traditions have evolved. Nowadays the
relationship between spiritual health, mental/emotional health and physical well-being is more and more being
understood as an integral activity within the cellular microcosm.
Utilising the "7 Chakra Centres" of the Eastern healing traditions, I can represent a form, structure and colour
symbolism that speaks of the need for balance in our life, the need for a recognition of the "one-ness" of the
universe and our "one-ness" within the body of humanity.
It is from such an awareness of "one-ness", "wholeness", that healing flows and in such "one-ness" do we
fulfil the cycle of our own circle of life, physical and spiritual. It is a circle that has no end.
We are as infinite as the universe and each life has it's own unique place within this "one-ness" All the
different circles, cycles of life, are an integral part of the whole - as is shown in my work - and each is a
wonderfully unique expression of the total creation.
I hope that in the form, structure, symbolisms and colours of this work the viewer may find
hope, strength and a joyful understanding that there is no end to the miracle of life itself
nor to life's own desire to fulfil itself in accordance with the Universal laws that govern
physical and spiritual existence.
Even as the loom governs the length and breadth of the tapestries I weave.
